Hospitals and healthcare facilities rank among the most substantial consumers of energy in commercial buildings nationwide. This is primarily because of the extensive amount of medical equipment they house, including X-ray machines, refrigerators, CT scanners, etc. In early 2023, this Kentucky Primary Care facility made the switch to solar to combat energy costs and add an extra layer of energy security.
This 41 kW solar array uses 76 solar panels to produce roughly 49,680 kWh per year, and 1 Tesla Powerwall battery to store any excess energy not immediately being used. The Powerwall is set to supply energy to the office’s many medicine-filled refrigerators in case of a power outage, protecting valuable resources.
