76.1 kW Government Solar Install on Bloomington Police Department
Built as a follow-on to our 305 kW City Hall project the Bloomington Police Department (BPD) install aimed to further extend the cities commitment to increasing its clean energy usage, security, and resilience. With an unshaded location the array, a 208V based ballasted system on a flat TPO roof produces just under 20% of this building’s 24/7 operating needs.
According to Duke Energy, 40% of its Indiana net metering customers are in Bloomington/Monroe County, outpacing every other county in Duke’s service area, which encompasses more than 60 counties. A conservative analysis by the Southern Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN) estimates that at least 10% of the state’s solar energy is produced in and around Bloomington.
